Connie's Flowers was established in 1997 by Connie and Floyd Royal...
...14 years earlier during Connie's time living in New Mexico she took a job working at a local greenhouse and fell in love. She left her job at the greenhouse to pursue an opportunity to move herself and her 4 young boys to the last frontier!
In 1984 Connie and her sons started their new life in Kenai Alaska. There she met her late husband Floyd Royal at AIH where he was the active manager. Not long after Floyd and Connie were wed.
The following years Connie worked for Kenai Air Alaska ( KAA ), but in 1997 she was laid off. Over the course of the following weeks, she realized that she would prefer not to have to work full time... Floyd took this to heart and built Connie her first 18’ X 36’ greenhouse on their property down Strawberry road, and so Connie's Flowers was born.
Ironically Connie was offered her job back at KAA just 2 months after being laid off. She accepted and ran Connie's Flowers during her off time. In 2000 KAA shut down and Connie started running her business full time. Between the construction of the greenhouse in 1997 and the shutdown of KAA in 2000, an additional 24’ in length had been added to the greenhouse. From that time Floyd built Connie 2 additional greenhouses and 3 cold frames making it an operation bigger than one person could handle.
Since its start Connie's Flowers has been able to provide everything from high quality bedding plants to finished baskets, due to the overwhelming support of her family. Her family's efforts were led by the unwavering support of her husband Floyd. Floyd was the salesman while Connie was the talent, or in Connie's words “He loved the people, I played in the dirt.” From selling truck loads of hanging baskets, to making sure every child left the greenhouse with a flower, Floyd was an essential part of Connie's Flowers past and provided a foundation upon which to build its future.
Connie’s Flowers long tradition of being a family owned and operated small business, Is continued by Connie's sons, daughters in laws, and grandchildren.
